I go to a school where I have no clique; just the close friends who stand by me and whom I can count on no matter what. There are the people for whom I will do anything for and look out for. Living to help others and making them smile is what I must do. I walk around the school with a mask to hide myself from the rest of the vultures at my school. I only show my true identity, like a superhero does, to only the closest people to me and to the ones that I trust with everything and anything. The other part of my life that proved to be more important was the undead army, the small and honorable army. This army of mine is what most people know as Wrestling. This was my life and will be for the rest of my unknown and hidden world.

This is the Place….
Here I am. Right here. I’m at this desk, in this class called Life 101. I live I San Fernando and as I think about what this place have done for me. I realize for this narrative I can’t talk much about L.A. I have been there and experienced the glorious China town and Alvero Street. I have seen the true face of Hollywood at night when the homeless talk to someone that is not there. Where Spiderman and power rangers are real and where the night is illuminated with the McDonald signs and cop cars, chasing the suspect down the street. But I cannot say much more than that for L.A. Because you see my heart, mind, and Life lie with San Fernando Valley. This magnificent and dirty yet clean city has given me memories and a relationship that is hard to understand unless you actually live here. From the tagging of San Fer and the “enemies” tagging of Pacoima or PJ Boys or Sylmar, these are what surrounded the bus stations and liquor stores and motels. And as you walk further you can here ranchero (Mexican music) music being blasted down the streets by hardcore Cholos who have been tatted with their colors. You can also see the countless shops for a young girl’s transformation into a young woman, her quincenera. This is the place where cops are not concerned with a broken light to meet their quota but or distracted with the gangs, the drug dealers at the pink motel, by the dump they call a trailer park, and that same motel where prostitutes meet for their “customers.” This is the place where you will get hit up by a gang for the clothes you are wearing and for how short you hair is, which has really happened to me. This is the place where you can buy and smell the delicacy or tacos de pescado or pollo from almost every corner stand. Where the food is more than just a dish to satisfy the stomach but the smell and taste of a dignified culture from someone who is trying to earn a living and is probably illegal, but no one cares to call and tell. This is the place called San Fernando and this is where I live. This is what I see as my safe home of 14 years.

My Imitation Poem
“Where I’m From”
I am from 1 family that became 2
I am from two very different cities
I am from the school that is believed to have
Only wimpy white kids
I am from no clique at school
I am from the group of my best friends and me
I am from the fake world I live in
I am from the place where what people see
Meets who I really am in the world
I am from the Small
I am from the Honorable
I am from the the Undead Army
I am from the lies and masks that rule this world
I am from my world of not caring anymore
I am from new plan of wanting to get out
And start the new life of relaxing and partying
I am from the room where I go to listen to music
I am from the secret place where music lets me escape all
I am from the weird and loud that all people laugh at
I am from my own desire to want to make people smile
No matter what they are laughing/smiling at
I am from my own ignorance and shyness among all
I am from all that we fear and want

"Running"
Entering New Territories:... Juan Rodriguez
It is about Juan who enjoys running every waking minute of his life. Running is his t.v, his dream, his fantasy world. While running he is able to escape all that is bad in his life and all the filth in his community. While running though he not only sees the trash and filth but other things that we do not expect to see in the ghetto. He sees nice houses, kids laughing and playing, and the nice parks.
Thoughts and What I Learned
This story was great and it could be turned into a movie because of the language used and the scenes and images that are created when he is running. This was a good story to read and was quite interesting to read also.

"The Depth Of Depp"
Red:... Grace Habegger
This was about a young girls obsession with the famous actor Johnny Depp. Her goals in the future and her dream is to be able to one day perform with him on stage. The other thing that she wants at minimum is to just meet him and talk to him. This takes us on the journy of a young girls obsession and want of an actor that she may not even meet.
Thoughts and What I Learned
Well as for inspiration this did not really help, yes it was a personal narrative but it did not transfer over to what i want to talk about in mine. It was descriptive though and showed that other lifestyle of a teen. So this could be made into a movie because of the descriptions and story or plot.

"Just Watch"
Red:...Saskia Boggs
This story was about a 17 year old Saskia who knows she has an addiction and does nothing about it. Her addiction is television, she realizes that by watching so many shows and music videos from this square box it takes her away from the real things in life. She says that television took her away from her parents and friends. This story was actually pretty cool because it compared television to an addictive and dangerous drug. She talks about how she was "strung out" by always sitting on the couch and doing nothing at all the whole. It was a good story because it let the mind drift off and believe that it was something worse like a drug.

August 2008 – Present
Coming back again
After long months wait
I must begin to change again
Everything, I MUST Paint it black
So back again and hating it all over
I feel so dead and normal again
Like I once did, months ago
I start to find; that this is my way to HURT myself
In order to feel alive, unique, and normal
But my once different and short great paradise, is now a Paradise Lost
I can feel my mind Coming Undone in my familiar world
I start to write Letters to GOD, but
HELL who knows if he hears my pleas and calls
Telling him about my soon HONEST GOODBYE
From this hell hole located in the deep depths of nowhere
I begin to ask, “Where is my mind” in all this
Deciding to stay I see everything before as DEAD MEMORIES
Even though I know, this will be the Down Fall of US ALL, FORTUNATLY
The Losing the pounds of FAT and SHAME and LOW SELF-CONFIDENCE…
In this world of mine where people see the real me without a mask
I see How I could just kill a man through all this
In the end I am and want to be Left Behind
BROKEN and NOW READY to start over I embrace The RED sight I used to run from
I feel like Superman himself
I feel like that always loved and wanting ROCKSTAR
I HAVE COME BACK
To this way of life I used to dread and despise
But now embrace and admire
I am now part of the small and exclusive Undead army
Where WE ARE the NORMAL ONES
And that short paradise that we experience
HOLDS the LIARS and ABNORMAL people in its clutches

August 2008- Present
August 2008- Present
“I see this red door and I wanted it painted black” the lyrics to The Rolling Stones’ song titled what else “Painted Black.” This is the way my last beginning of a wrestling season started, just seeing the title brings the memory back of how everything clear, happy, and bright must now come to an abrupt end to the black, dismal and almost depressing, and grueling life of my wrestling season. Time and time again I remember thinking “Why do I do this to myself” “Why am I cutting a million pounds in a week to just try and be competitive.” (In reality I was and am only losing 10 pounds in a week, granted still not healthy ha-ha). “Why do I go without eating or not having a social life for this damn sport” and all that time I would still push through all the crap and stay with it. This season was worst for some reason though, could it have been because of the new co-head coach who broke me, mentally, or the fact that I had major senioritis. Yes. It was all of these things, and these were so bad that I almost quit the team after 3 and now 4 years of sweating, bleeding, wrestling with an injured head, shoulder or ankle. After not eating Thanksgiving for 4 years, having to sit at the table and smell the delicious turkey be passed around you. After all that, and I was about to quit a sport that most people have no idea how hard it is or how much of your physical, mental and social health goes into. All they ever see is men wrestling with other men in “leotards.” They don’t understand and never will. But I was about to quit to have that beautiful life and scent of freedom that everyone else has.
It wasn't until T.O.C week or as others knows it as winter break, was when my attitude and mind set of leaving changed. I started to beat people that were better than me, on paper, and had this thought of, “Everything is going to good.” And like slipknot states “it’s all a bunch of ‘Dead Memories’” and that’s exactly what my quitting memories were dead and gone. No longer there, like the food at an all “you can eat buffet” when a wrestling team walks out after eating. My attitude started to change and I know had this great confidence that I can win a city title at the hardest weight class of 130 pounds. I started to see the seating and rankings as lies and that I can be someone “better” than me and I no longer cared. That is what I noticed too, when I stopped caring about rankings and just went out there to have fun and wrestle, I was good and performed at a level I never saw let alone the coach’s saw. So here I am blabbering, and reminiscing about these memories of doubt and low confidence to how I over came those ideas and made better memories. Cliché isn’t it? But, in this very cliché moment not one part is a lie or false and IT WAS a sappy teen movie that we all hate. Even though, all of us had moments where it was one of those poorly scripted and edited movies. I ended up getting a shirt along with the whole team a shirt that reflected the new mental thought. “VINI VIDI VICI.” And for those who don’t know “I CAME, I SAW, I CONQUERED”.
"Pilot Episode"
My So Called Life
This show followed Angela and her decisions she made to fit in, get the boy, and rebel; all of the old cliche junk that makes soap opera a soap opera. What this episode did was over dramatize everything and put crying people everywhere to make this and emotional and I guess the "real" experience. Now I'm not saying that people don't do stupid things and end up trying to change themselves to get something. But this show over dramatized it to the point to where it got annoying and way to fake. So besides critiquing this show; it did show a personal narrative type video, with some voice overs and a central character that it followed through "life."

"Wings For Wheels"
The Making of Born To Run:
This was about Bruce Springstien and his most famous and intricate album. This album is not what only followed up his previous album that was big but it showed a turning point in his music. In this album it was a very studio edited album where as his other albums sounded like how they played live, but with little tweaks. This was the album where they dove into the studio and layered a ridiculous amount of strings and instruments on top of each other; to create one of his best albums. At the same time this showed what his life was like and how he focused on the album.

"God’s Close-Up"
This American Life:
This episode fallowed a man who was an artist and painted biblical painting of Jesus. The most unique part of this was that he would first recreate the scene then paint while in that live action of a biblical event. The major thing that was interesting was that he was based out of Utah. Now that does not sound to interesting but when he needs bearded men to play as the disciples or Jesus, in a city and state frown heavily on having a beard. The state or at least the city wanted every one to be clean cut. So this mans religious figures were usually atheists or just did not believe in the guide lines that the religion there placed upon its members.

"My Way"
This American Life
This show and particular episode followed young kids around who were in middle school at most and had them talk about how they saw the world. This was really interesting because usually people are concerned with parents and doing the right thing for kids that they skip the middle man, the kid him/herself. These kids that they interviewed had very stunning and even a little bit of an outlandish look on life and everything that it holds. So this was a pretty cool episode showing us that unique POV.

"Lauren G & Cappie"
High School Confidential:
This episode was about two very different people, Lauren was prom queen, Ms. Popular, and Spirit of the High School. It followed her from when she was shy to when she became captain of the cheer squad. It then showed how she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and came out of surgery stronger than ever and went right back to perfect life of hers. We were then introduced to Cappie, or as she became known in high school as the wild party girl. We once again followed her from being shy to this wild girl who began failing. Then in the turn of events in her Senior year she out grew that wild life style and began focusing more on school and studying.

"Road Warrior"
The O.C.
In this show we visually saw what a voice over was and how it can be applied. In a show that i am not familiar with nor have I watched, it did help to be put to use because just hearing about what it is does not really help. SO a voice over is when someone's voice is being played over other scenes to try and reveal thoughts that only us, as the viewers, can hear. This technique adds drama and emotions over any type of scene.

"Appeal From an Angry..."
Red:... Kali Moriarity
This is about a girl and her friends and how through out their high school years they were judged as being emo. This of course was false accusations and just led to drama throughout their group and the other groups or cliques. She then talks about how left being unresolved will cause to much drama for one to handle and all chaos can and will break loose throughout the blood stained halls of innocents. Throughout the soon to be battle ground, that most know as, high school. Soon though this once peaceful ground will be known for holding Armageddon and all its EVILS. This horrid event will soon be unleashed due to the unbalanced scales of Good and Evil, Rumors and Truth. This is the Arena for which Chaos and Blood, will rain from the sky and take over. Where Blood of the innocent and guilty will be unleashed through torturous acts, on the holy ground we know as....HIGH SCHOOL.

"What Truthiness Taught....."
Red:... Sarah Schelde
This story is about a young girl who sees that by being honest to herself and others is for the best and will help her in the future. She talks about how even though at the time when she acted herself and showed her true colors she was casted out of the "cool" group, which we can all relate to. She then states that even though at the time it pretty much sucked, she found her true self and that this is a much better way to live than lieing to her self.
Thoughts and What I Learned
I learned that there are other kids out there that face the same problems as me and the rest of the strong but small voiced teens in this nation and even world. As for inspiration it helped because i saw one that told a little more truth about her true self and that sounds like a good narrative of myself, coming clean and showing my true colors.

"Play"
What Fires Up Their Lives:... Olive Panter
This is about a 16 year old who is deeply inspired by music and grew up around a very artistic family. This is somewhat contridicting what was said in the "East L.A." story, becasue this story implies that where you grow up and what you are around really can bring you up a certain and almost tame you into that way of believing and life style. So this young girl is inspired by music and she ends up shooting more aggressively for that dream of music and the arts.
Thoughts and What I Learned
This story was unique becasue it talked about a young person and her dreams and goals. This also gave you a different kind of inspiration of use what is at your disposal for a better life. This could be made into a movie because of the story and details. But this also helped me with seeing that, when I talked about my narrative I should talk about something more personal and true to me.

"My Impression Now"
Perfect From Now On:... John Sellers
This story was told by John Sellers and what he thought about music now and then. It also had to due heavily on how he listens to music and that he is/was trying to find the perfect play list. It really went into depth that he found the best play list through iTunes categorization of top 25 most played. This is what got him riled up because he stated that those songs weren't really accurate and made for a horrible play list. In the end he rants about changing music and how Indie saved his "music" soul.
Thoughts and What I Learned
I actually thought that this was a horrible piece of work. For one he talked so much about how he was upset with iTunes and the music it selected for a play list. He than rants so much about indie music and jumps around to the point that it gets way to boring to read. It would be a horrible movie because there is little detail and it is not a story that will captivate any sense able person.

"My Ride, My Revolution"
The Republic of East L.A:... Luis J. Rodriguez
This memoir, through a lot of imagery and details shows that no matter where you come from that should not define who you are as a person or what you will become in the future. He also goes on this journey of trying to fit in so hard that he becomes some one else and can't fit in. Soon he gives up on trying to fit in that he doesn't care and starts to just be himself and act how he wants to. Once he does this he realizes that things become so much easier in life and his social life for him.
Thoughts and What I Learned
This blog was pretty neat because it dealt more specifically with fitting in and being yourself. What was also very interesting was that it gave me that message, be yourself and everything will start to become easier in life down the line. As for writing my personal narrative it did influence me. It influenced me by digging deep down and talk about something much more real and yet still hold that fictional line. Also because of how descriptive it was it could be easily transformed into a movie.

"Roller Boogie"
One Song At a Time:.. Rob Sheffield
This story was about a young kid who wants to be part of the in crowd but at the same time loves music. So when he signs up to be the Dj for his school dance he plays great music, to him. He does play great music but he does not play dance able music. So at one point when he his pulled aside and told to play Rolling Stones', Girls, he sees that the his music and music that is genuinely good is not for a dance. When he later tells his dad and his dad says that "girls go to dances to meet guys, not listen to music." Sheffield replies with that nieve and child mind of "shows how much he [dad] knows."
Thoughts and What I Learned
Well something like this is relate able because everyone wants to be hip. And also know and days everyones lives are runned by music and creating a play list that shows and represents them. This also helps me of creating the video because it gives me the idea of really focusing on music for an emotional back drop and on how to tell mine. The big help came as the POV of telling it from first person but talking about the past and fading sometimes back into the present for commentary.
This story was about a young kid who wants to be part of the in crowd but at the same time loves music. So when he signs up to be the Dj for his school dance he plays great music, to him. "We Stood In Line..."
In Kick Me:... By Paul Feig
This is a story about how kids can be immature and even cruel from the beginning of school. He talks about his own experience when he was in elementary and the kids gave him the nickname of FIG NEWTON. Which to him this was not bad at all because all kids wanted to be just like the commercial hero and sing the song. After a while though Feig starts to say that it started to get old and couldn't wait to go to middle school and receive a new much cooler name or at least keep his real one. This did not prove to be the case because when he got to M.S kids were more cruel and then all he wanted was to be known as FIG NEWTON again.
Thoughts and What I Learned
Well nicknames I am used to or at least people believing that my last name is my nickname so this is something that i can relate to. But as for inspiring me to make a video of something like this, it doesn't. This is just something to simple and broad to try and make a movie out of this. What this has taught me is that i must be detailed and specific when writing a story.

"Echo Park"
In The Bus: Cosmic.... Steve Abee
Steve Abee is talking about his little routine and experience when waiting for the bus to go get his car. This story jumps around a lot and makes us almost see and jump into his mind, so whenever he thinks of something else and jumps so do we. We are only given what he is thinking about. This was actually really relatable because when i did take the bus from my house to school and then back it gave me this time to just relax, think, and imagine the impossible. Knowing how i thought when on the bus it made this story that much more interesting. With all the description that he uses and imagery, it could be a good video to shoot.

"Teen Learns From Credit..."

Jenna Jakowatz
This discussion that was brought up by Jenna was not only interesting but also frightengly true. It seems that a lot of people in the earlier generations of us are spending money with no worry at all and then can not pay for the things that they need. Seeing this problem of spending in the earlier generations and now pointing it more out so it is in the open, really makes us see what we must do. That is that we must cut back on spending and start watching our wallets and get out of debt so we can get out of this financial recession and problem.
My Own Experience:
This economic crisis has effected me and my family greatly, from budget and buying cuts, living changes and everything else in between. My dad is a Plumber, and not roto rooter, a commercial and new construction plumber, and a hard working one at that. Now, this crisis landed him in a dead end for about a month and a half to 2 months where there was absolutely no work, meaning no money coming in; only the money from my step-mom. We ended up moving into an apartment right around this recession crap. Now it doesn’t sound bad but with 7 people, one being a baby, in a two bedroom apartment, all I can say is that it can get chaotic and cramped. This same recession really cut us back to trying to get money for the things that we need, not even for luxurious things that we used to get. Now that I drive too, I have really started looking at where I drive to and if it is even worth it. This recession has even affected me directly with my fun status and has given me problems with having a blast on the holy days that we as teenagers know, Friday night and Saturday and early Sunday.
